Model Provisions for the Certification of Immunisation Status on School and Child Care Entry – Introductory Statement

This project was coordinated by the Commonwealth on behalf of the Legislation Reform Working Group and is aimed at providing a legislative framework to enable the relevant person in charge of schools/child care centres to identify children who are at risk of infection from a vaccine preventable disease.

It also provides the framework for institution of appropriate measures/processes for the protection of children at risk; promoting the safe and secure handling of records relating to immunisation status and provide for flexible control over the manner in which records are stored and handled, as well as to deal appropriately with records in their care.
