Health Impact Assessment. Legislative and Administrative Framework 2005

This document is made available as a resource document to those with an interest in the developing areas of Health Impact Assessment in Australia. The document does not necessarily represent the position of all members of the National Public Health Partnership.

The paper is an attempt to map current legislative and administrative arrangements for Health Impact Assessment (HIA) in each Australian jurisdiction, as a basis for analysing issues relating to HIA implementation, particularly in the context of Environmental Impact Assessment. Legislative models for HIA are explored as well as best practice framework and opportunity for national consistency.
