Meningococcal Diseases Committee (MDC)
Brief summary including goals and objectives
Membership of the MDC is invited from people with expertise or responsibilities
in the clinical or public health management of meningococcal disease.
The roles of the MDC are:
- To consider evidence on the epidemiology and management of meningococcal
disease and submit recommendations on policy and practices to CDNA as
appropriate. This may include revisions to the “Guidelines for
the early clinical and public health management of meningococcal disease
in Australia (2001)”;
- To consider national surveillance data on meningococcal disease and
to report periodically to CDNA on the results and implications of this
data;
- To provide advice to health authorities on the management of outbreaks
of meningococcal disease; and
- To provide other advice and information to CDNA as requested.
