Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Injury Prevention Action Committee

ATSIIPAC Terms of Reference

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Injury Prevention Action Committee (ATSIIPAC) has been formed to assist and report to the National Public Health Partnership in the development of the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Injury Prevention Plan (the Plan). The development of the Plan will recognise the diversity of needs of local/regional Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and complement The National Injury Prevention Plan: Priorities for 2001-2003.

In this context, ATSIIPAC will:

• provide advice and direction in the development National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Injury Prevention Plan through:
  • providing advice on a national consultation process in relation to injury among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples;
  • developing a broad, strategic and coordinated approach for the identification of priority areas of injury for the Plan; and
  • providing advice on current initiatives that are being undertaken at the local/regional/state/national level to address injury prevention within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
• promote actions that will support the development of the Plan.
