Environmental Health Research In early 2000 the enHealth Council established the Research Taskgroup to provide advice on environmental health research priorities and inform policy decision making, as well as look at the most appropriate mechanisms for progressing environmental health research through collaboration and other frameworks. The Taskgroup were asked to develop a priority setting framework, that sets out criteria to identify priorities for research in environmental health, and identify appropriate mechanisms to progress environmental health research. In completing its work, by developing the priority setting framework and an options paper for the establishment of a virtual environmental health research centre, the Council disbanded the Research Taskgroup, at its 6th Session in March, 2001, in favour of a small steering group within the Council Membership. This group will continue to progress the work started by the Research Taskgroup and identified in the Implementation Plan, which is to support ad encourage improvements to increase environmental health research capacity. The key aspect of this work is to look at developing a proposal to establish a virtual research centre for environmental health and the possible funding options.
